Hunting & Range Life
Everything around the rifle — gear checklists, rifle types, seasonal tips, and range-day essentials for Marlin and Remington shooters and hunters.
How many magazines should you carry?
For hunting, most shooters carry at least one spare loaded magazine for a fast follow-up or reload — a factory-pattern spare is cheap insurance against a missed opportunity. At the range, having two or three magazines keeps you shooting instead of reloading between strings.
What capacity is legal where you hunt?
Some states cap magazine capacity, and a few also limit magazine size for hunting specifically. Before you head out, confirm the rules in the magazine capacity laws by state guide, and check your state wildlife agency’s hunting regulations.
Why factory-pattern reliability matters in the field
Cold weather, dust, and a long walk are exactly when a magazine needs to feed without thinking. That’s the argument for a US-made, factory-pattern magazine built to the original feed geometry rather than an imported copy — more on that in OEM vs aftermarket magazines.
