Why a store-brand .22 takes a Marlin magazine
For decades, Marlin manufactured .22 rifles that other retailers sold under their own store name. Same rifle, same tooling, same magazine well — just a different name stamped on the receiver:

Black oxide or nickel for a store-brand rifle
The finish choice works the same on a rebadged rifle as it does on a Marlin-branded one — black oxide and nickel-plated magazines are made from the same steel and function identically. Black oxide matches a blued barrel and needs a light coat of oil now and then; nickel resists corrosion a bit better on its own and wipes clean easily. Either finish fits the same rifles listed in the chart above; the choice doesn't affect fitment.

The 795 rule still applies if your rebadge is a 70-series semi-auto
If your store-brand rifle maps to the Marlin 70-series or 795 semi-auto platform, it takes a 7- or 10-round .22 LR magazine — the 71900/71901 in 7-round, or ARM's 10-round variants. Both capacities are legitimate factory-pattern magazines for that platform, not an aftermarket substitute.
Fixing a loose fit on rebadged Model 80-series rifles
Glenfield 20/25/80, JC Higgins 42/42DL, the Revelation 105, and the Foremost 20 share the same magazine well design as the Marlin 80-series, which on some rifles can leave a 71903-pattern magazine feeling loose or slow to seat. One rifle this chart does not cover
Marlin's tube-fed Model 60 (and any store-brand rifle built on that same tube-fed action) does not use a detachable box magazine. If your rifle loads through a tube under the barrel rather than a box that drops out of the bottom, there is no magazine to buy for it — American Rifle Magazines only manufactures detachable box magazines.
